Our Work
Keys to Literacy has provided consulting and professional development in adolescent literacy in 20 states to over 100 public schools and districts, and over 40 private schools, colleges, and other educational institutions. We have also presented keynote addresses and workshops at numerous national, state, and regional professional education conferences.
Here are a few of the contracts we have fulfilled:
Chelsea Public Schools, Chelsea, MA: : Currently in the second of a three-year contract to provide onsite professional development and teacher training to adopt The Key Three Routine and The Key Vocabulary Routine in all of the middle and high schools.
Nauset Regional Public Schools, Orleans, MA: Currently in the second of a three-year contract to provide onsite professional development in adolescent literacy to adopt The Key Three Routine in grades 4 and 5 of four elementary schools, the middle school, and the high school. The Key Vocabulary Routine is being adopted in the middle school.
ASSETS School, Honolulu, HI: Over a two-year period, provided professional development for reading comprehension to the middle and high school teachers for school-wide adoption of The Key Three Routine. Also, a week-long literacy scholar-in-residence.
NH READS — A federally funded project of the NH Department of Education and SERESC (Southeast Regional Educational Center) to develop and provide professional development for reading comprehension to middle and high schools in the state. The Key Three Routine is being used as the principle professional development program for improving adolescent literacy.
Massachusetts Department of Education: Consultant since 2003 to the Office of Reading secondary literacy initiative, including Vision Committee member of the statewide adolescent literacy committee and keynote speaker and workshop presenter at multiple Secondary Literacy Network planning conferences.
Gloucester Public Schools, Gloucester, MA: Consulting and literacy training to district administrators for district-wide literacy planning and improving adolescent literacy.
Boston Public Schools, Access Technology Center, Boston, MA: Participated in classroom strategy pilot professional development coupled with the use of technology to support literacy instruction.
Bridges, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada: Developed and presented two-day adolescent literacy workshops and technology seminars focused on improving reading comprehension and writing instruction in Vancouver, Toronto, and Nova Scotia.
Southampton, Tuckahoe, Sag Harbor, and Riverhead Middle Schools, Long Island, NY: Provided onsite professional development in adolescent literacy to integrate The Key Notebook Routine and The Key Three Routine school-wide.
Briarwood School, Houston, TX: School-wide professional development for reading comprehension to integrate The Key Notebook Routine and The Key Three Routine school-wide at this school for students with learning disabilities.
Bay State Reading Initiative, MA: Provided reading comprehension professional development to 14 schools across Massachusetts.
Step-By-Step Learning, Pittsburgh and Allentown, PA: Literacy consultant and coach to team of trainers at a state-wide literacy professional development company.
