Keys to Literacy Professional Development

There is a lot of research on how to improve student literacy. It is part of our professional development programs and process.

It is no surprise that we have developed some of the most effective literacy professional development programs for teachers across the country, since they are built upon the most current literacy research and best professional development practices.

Our professional development approach works because it combines initial training with long-term follow-up support. We show teachers how to embed comprehension, vocabulary and writing instruction into content teaching and then provide ongoing follow-up support to ensure sustainability.

Our instructional routines embed foundational literacy instruction across the curriculum while fulfilling many of the Common Core literacy requirements. Our strategies are relevant to special educators and general educators. They support instructional continuity across all student groups and multiple tiers of instruction. From large urban districts to buildings in small rural districts our programs are effective at building literacy skills that last a lifetime.
