As I was walking down the halls of the middle school today, I noticed one of those lockers. There were a variety of posters acknowledging this student's birthday... one of which was a top-down web identifying the different ways (with examples) of why this student was so special!

Keys to Literacy partners with the North Carolina Department of Education
Rowley, MA — June 8, 2012 — Keys to Literacy is pleased to announce that The North Carolina State Improvement Project II (NC SIPII) has integrated The Key Comprehension Routine and The Key Vocabulary Routine into its statewide teacher training program. NC SIP selected Keys to Literacy because its research-based comprehension and vocabulary instructional routines are an effective way for teachers to build student literacy skills.

NC SIP II is part of the North Carolina Department of Education's Exceptional Children Department. The program provides professional development and program support services to significantly improve the performance and success of students with disabilities in North Carolina. NC SIP believes there is clear and extensive research evidence indicating that the vast majority of students with disabilities can read and write, as well as demonstrate math skills on grade level IF appropriate, research-validated instructional and learning techniques are effectively employed.

NELMS and Keys to Literacy partnering to improve middle level literacy
DANVERS, MA — May 7, 2009 — Keys to Literacy and the New England League of Middle Schools (NELMS) are pleased to announce that NELMS has become a licensed provider of Keys to Literacy professional development for comprehension and vocabulary. This partnership will enable schools and districts to contract directly with NELMS for Keys to Literacy professional development. NELMS will provide complete Keys to Literacy professional development services including one and two-day open workshops and on-site training. NELMS selected Keys to Literacy as partner because its research-based instructional routines are an effective way for content teachers to build student literacy skills.
